Building a healthier newsroom, one takeout menu at a time!

Monday February 26, 2007
A new treat here on the J-site: As newsies know, journalism is about more than writing hot stories and getting big scoops. It's also about newsroom counters constantly offering Tostitos Scoops (the preferred salsa complement in my neck of the woods) and order lists being passed around for the night's greasy food fest. And if that's not enough to take a toll on your arteries, there's the constant stress of tight deadlines, ungodly hours, no days off, screaming editors, and grumpy readers.

In that spirit, and in memory of last night's Oscar newsroom pizza, we offer the Healthy Journalists Package (aka how not to drop dead of a heart attack at your desk at age 50): "Watching What You Eat on Deadline" and "Staying One Step Ahead of Stress." Now get back to your vending-machine crunchies!
