Using Audacity to Record Sound Files

If you'd like to do your own podcast or need to record audio to go with a video news report, Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) is a free program that allows you to do this quickly and easily. The picture above is what you see when you first open Audacity. At the top left are the green arrow for playing sound files, the red button to start recording, the blue pause button, the brown stop button and the double-arrow button that skips to the end of the sound file. Also along the top is a series of drop-down menus.
