Definition: A sidebar is a story that accompanies the mainbar, or main news story about an event. A sidebar focuses on one particular aspect of a news event, whereas the mainbar has more complete coverrage of the main points of the story.
He wrote a sidebar focusing on the police officer who saved the child from the icy pond.
