Madison's Capital Times Ceases Daily Publication

April 2008: The Capital Times, one of two newspapers in Madison, Wis., ceased daily publication on April 26, 2008. The Cap Times, as it's known locally, now produces a website and publishes free supplements twice a week.

The Albuquerque Tribune Closes

February 2008: The Albuquerque Tribune, a 10,000-circulation afternoon daily in New Mexico's largest city, has closed. E. W. Scripps Co., the Tribune's owner, had tried in vain for seven months to to sell the paper, which was founded in 1922. Its circulation had dropped from from 42,000 in 1988 to about 10,000 last year.
